Science and Technology Strategies + University Partnerships
Beginning in 2000, in collaboration with the Massachusetts High Technology Council, Associated Industries of Massachusetts, major technology firms and universities including UMass, Harvard, MIT and Northeastern and the Boston Foundation, Mass Insight committed significant resources to advocate for and shape a university and technology-focused economic development strategy for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Strategic alliances of universities and businesses in New York, California, and other states — with active support from state government — are challenging Massachusetts’ leadership in the critical technologies that will drive the next economic boom. Massachusetts has had no coherent science and technology-based economic development strategy to meet this challenge.

The state’s first comprehensive Technology Roadmap and Strategic Alliances study with Battelle Technology Consulting in 2003-04 followed by work groups in defense, ocean research and healthcare research.
